Example Applications - Local Directory
This offers a user the chance to find a local service. The table is 'sortable':
click on the column header to sort by name, postcode, distance etc
click on the small arrows to change the sort direction
The distances are worked out from the first half of the postcode only, so are approximate, and as the crow flies. In practice, this tends to give a useful enough indication for people. The full postcode database is available from Royal Mail for more accurate results, but has an annual license fee for its use.
This (fictional) example is local to South Wales, but you can still type in any UK postcode.
To add a system like this (user page, admin page, and database) to your website would cost between £75 and £200 depending on the complexity and functions required.
